Public comment period begins January 25th for Proposed 2017 Annual Action Plan

JANUARY 12, 2017 (LINCOLN, NEB.)—The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) will conduct a public comment period, that includes two public videoconferences, on the Proposed 2017 Annual Action Plan which concerns the distribution of approximately $10 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, $3 million in HOME Investment Partnerships Program funds, $3 million in National Housing Trust Funds (HTF), $941,814 in Emergency Solutions Grant Program (ESG) funds, and $370,412 in Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) which is authorized under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. In addition, approximately $3 million in Homeless Shelter Assistance Trust Fund (HSATF) funds, and $9 million in Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund (NAHTF) resources will be distributed.

$2.8 million awarded to eight communities for downtown revitalization

DECEMBER 22, 2016 (LINCOLN, NEB.) —The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $2,800,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to eight Nebraska communities to complete Phase II (implementation) in the Downtown Revitalization category. These projects are designed to provide resources for commercial rehabilitation and infrastructure improvements within the downtowns of the communities selected.

Fort Calhoun’s commitment to growth, new leadership recognized by state of Nebraska

City honored as a DED Leadership Certified Community

DECEMBER 20, 2016 (LINCOLN, NEB.)— The Department of Economic Development (DED) has named Fort Calhoun (pop.913) as the agency’s 17th Leadership Certified Community in the state of Nebraska. DED Business Development Consultant, Lynn Kohout, honored city council members and community leaders during a special presentation on Monday, December 19th.

$229,200 awarded to eight communities for ongoing comprehensive development projects

DECEMBER 14, 2016 (LINCOLN, NEB.)—The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $229,200 in 2016 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding in the Comprehensive Development Category to the communities of Columbus, Fremont, Kearney, Nebraska City, Norfolk, Scottsbluff, Wayne, and York for ongoing efforts. These awards are part of a two phased approach to make available flexible investments in housing and infrastructure to assist in the carrying out of a comprehensive revitalization strategy to stabilize, support, and enhance clearly defined residential neighborhoods with concentrations of persons with low- and moderate-incomes.
