Shanghai Office is “Open for Business”

(Lincoln, Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman today officially opened Nebraska’s first trade office in China. The Nebraska Center China will be a vital element in the continuing development of Nebraska-China relations. Government officials and business leaders on both sides of the world joined together via technology to celebrate the opening of the state’s newest international trade office.
 
“Today is a historic day in Nebraska-China relations,” said Gov. Dave Heineman. “By opening this trade office, we are expanding our international trade efforts. We are letting China’s business leaders know that Nebraska is open for business. Relationships are essential for building business in Asia, and having both an office in China and Japan shows our commitment to these growing economies.”

FEBRUARY 27, 2013 (OMAHA, NEB.)—New Grand Ocean International, a Chinese-owned agribusiness based in Thailand with operations throughout eastern Asia, cut the ribbon today on its newest—and only North American— facility in Omaha.

Joining New Grand Ocean Owner Qian Chen and Vice President Harry Hou were Governor Dave Heineman and several state, local and business representatives.  

“During my trade mission to China last year, I had the opportunity to speak with Chinese Vice Premier Wang about opportunities for greater value-added exports to China, fueled in part by foreign investments,” said Gov. Heineman. “New Grand Ocean’s location in Nebraska helps with that effort. Asia’s growing population needs more food and value-added products, and it makes perfect sense for us to use our world-leading productivity to process more of those products here before shipping them abroad.”

Seward earns Nebraska Economic Development Certified Community designation PDF Print E-mail

February 4, 2013 (LINCOLN, NEB.) — Seward has become the 37th community to earn the designation of Nebraska Economic Development Certified Community from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and Nebraska Diplomats.

“The City of Seward and Seward County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) both have worked extremely diligently to finally achieve this coveted economic development designation,” said Seward Mayor Joshua Eickmeier. “Becoming a certified economic development community is important because it demonstrates our commitment to the future success of Seward and the surrounding communities.”
